  4. We live in Colorado and have a Vicotrian home that was built in 1900. My husband thinks it may be a kit home. Is it possible?

    1. Sears didn't start selling houses by mail until 1908. So if the house was actually built in 1900, it's not one of Sears mail order houses. If you want to e-mail us a photo or an address, if the house is visible in Google Streetview, we can take a look to let you know for sure.

  5. Hello! I just found out my home is a sears catalog home. The address is 261 Fair St Warwick RI. It was ordered and constructed in 1922-1923. Is there anyway you could help confirm this?

    1. Very cool! Looks like a Sears "Uriel". In later years, Sears sold almost the exact same model as the "Conway". If you want to e-mail me some current photos of the inside and outside of the house, that would be great. But from what I can see from Google Streetview, it looks like one to me!

  6. I have always been told that my office building, purchased by my father in the early 70's, was a Sears prefab home, and looking through the photos of the homes available at the time, (early 1900's), it appears to be a Magnolia. How do I go about verifying this? I have photos to send you if you are interested. Thank you!

Feel free to send photos or even just the address if it's on Google Streetview and we'll check it out. The Magnolia is a rare bird in the world of Sears kit houses so if it is one, that's quite noteworthy.

  7. Hi I purchased my home 4 years ago and came across your blog today. I think my home may be a sears home kit and wanted to confirm such. Can I email you a picture? It looks very much like the Lexington model, and the house was built in 1926. Are there clues i can look for to confirm as such?

  8. I live in Keokuk, Iowa and there seems to be quite a number of seats homes. We also have one which I learned when touring Laura Ingalls Wilder's home and was shocked how similar ours was. Then framed on the wall was the Sears and Roebuck blueprint and purchase info of the house. There are quite a few similar homes in this little town I thought you may be interested!

  11. This might not be the right place to leave my message but here goes. I have what I believe to be an Sears Crafton house across the street from me in Northport NY. I have checked online and it has all the proper details. Wondering if there was a way for this to be documented. The house is being sold and I am afraid it will be torn down.
